ABOUT
Greg Kelly is a twenty-six year resident of East County San Diego with a diverse background in various fields. He has worked in education as an art teacher, wrestling coach, daycare director, and youth pastor. He has worked in the trades as a day laborer, carpenter, safety supervisor, project manager, and estimator. He has worked with technology as both tier 1 and tier 2 tech support for hospital equipment (Pyxis) helping nurses solve difficult problems.
For the past ten years, Greg has been employed as the Senior Programmer of Advancement at the University of San Diego where he analyzes complex data sets, and he serves a large division of end users by creating customized reports for their business needs.
Greg is the son of a retired public school art teacher, and he is married to an elementary school teacher who has served in the Lemon Grove School District for close to thirty years. Both his children are alumni of Grossmont High School, with his daughter having served on the GUHSD school board as the student representative for the 2024-2025 school year. His education includes community college, certifications, independent research, and degrees from both Southern California Bible College and Seminary and DeVry University.
After graduating from high school, Greg attempted to follow in his brother's footsteps by enlisting in the marines but was denied any military service at MEPS in LA due to a pre-existing back condition. This led to his time at community college where he explored the arts: photography, ceramics, stained glass, drawing, and digital design. He excelled at debate and fell in love with Shakespeare, creative writing, and for a season, he wrestled. Greg's exposure to various educational environments and work experiences makes him a well-rounded candidate for the school board.

WHY HE IS RUNNING
Greg is concerned with the current board’s conduct. Their actions over the years have cost the District millions in litigation fees, created a toxic work environment for both staff and students, and have shown them to be unfit to serve as non-partisan public officials. He is running, in short, to make board meetings civil and productive. The District does not belong on the front page of newspapers due to scandals and unpopular actions. It is time for change; he is running because he believes he will be a trustee this community can trust.
Greg turned fifty at the tail end of 2025, and he believes strongly in giving back to both his community and this District. Grossmont High School did an amazing job with his two children and he wants to return the favor. With his leadership, he feels he can further strengthen the programs provided to all students of our public East County high schools.
